Academy Report: Ossett Town AFC 2-0 Avenue

Monday 9th October – away to Ossett

Half time score 0-0
Full time score 2-0

Under the guidance of academy manager Alex Meechan the scholars have improved dramatically since this time last season. This time last season it would have been about keeping the score down, but today it was about pushing for the win. Ossett Town have a great development program and produce very strong teams and this team was no exception. Avenue started off the brightest with possession being shared in what was a frantic first half. The second half started pretty much the same as the first had ended with a fast paced game. Avenue continued to create chances but just could not deliver the final blow. At the other end some great saves from Avenue keeper Alfie kept the score at 0-0. In the last 20 minutes some poor discipline and lapses of concentration cost Avenue the game. A stunning over head kick from a free kick gave Ossett the lead and then a catalogue of missed tackles let them in for the second. Overall a number of positives from the game with clear areas to work on. The next academy game is on Wednesday away at Middleton Leisure Centre with a 1:30 ko.
