Gaffers Thoughts On York City

posted in: First Team News, News | 0

I thought we were unfortunate to lose at York on Saturday. Having watched the game back, we had more than enough of the game to get a positive result and, had we scored when we were on top in the opening stages, we may have come away with all three points. It’s hard to be critical of the players as it was a tight encounter and there were some good performances, but we must learn from the mistakes we made as when you are playing the top teams, they punish you. The game highlighted the quality York do have however and in John Parkin they have a class act who would improve any team in this league and probably the league above.

It was great to see such a strong turnout from the Avenue fans. To take nearly half your average home gate to an away league game is fantastic and even when we were behind, our fans were the ones singing. Everyone in the dressing room was disappointed that we were unable to give them a result to cheer but the support was much appreciated.
