Experienced midfielder Nicky joined the club in July 2016 from neighbours FC Halifax Town, and won the Player of the Year award following a string of fine performances in green and white. The 31-year-old arrived with a wealth of experience and well over 200 appearances in the Football League. He started his career at Barnsley, and featured for Bury, Hamilton Academical and York City before joining Torquay United in 2008. He won promotion from the Conference in his first season at Plainmoor, and made over 100 appearances in three years at the club before joining Shrewsbury Town for an undisclosed fee. He moved on again in 2012, joining League One side Preston North End, but ended his second season with loan spells at Shrewsbury and Oxford before joining Notts County in 2014. Last season he joined Halifax on loan before making the switch permanent in January, going on to captain the Shaymen to victory in the FA Trophy final at Wembley.
