Development Fund Update

posted in: Development Fund News, News | 0

Over the last few months the Development Fund have been busy raising vital funds for the club. So want to take a moment to share progress on some of the recent events and future funding projects.

Beer Festival – This successful event took place over the first weekend of September where we managed to raise £2,200 plus £1,100 donated to the 2 charities (Horsfall Trust and Marie Curie), a good weekend was had by all.

Sportsman Dinner – Again another successful evening with great speakers in Mark Crossley and comedian Lea Roberts with further profits of £3,400 raised. Thanks to all sponsors and fans who attended these 2 events.

Having raised money from these events it now time to inform you how this money has been distributed, we have allocated £10k to the team to support further signings on the field of play, further monies have been pledged to support the stadium re-build/improvements with £1,000 going towards new windows in the club house which will help with ventilation, £3,600 towards repairs to the Avenue cafe, £1,500 for support railings in the main stand and finally £9,000 to re-site the bus stop stand. It’s hoped the majority of these improvements will be completed in the next couple of months.

To boost funds we have arranged a comedy/curry evening in the club house for Thursday 18 November 8pm, tickets are limited to 75 priced at £12 each. We have managed to get local comedian Lea Roberts who entertained so well at the sportsman dinner, so hurry to get your ticket from Dave Stordy in the programme shop or after the game in the bar. We do have an alternative to curry in pie’n’peas which must be ordered when purchasing your ticket.

We will also be holding a Christmas raffle with prizes of bottles of spirits, wine and beers, if any fans wish to contribute to the prizes these can be handed over to Dave in the programme shop before any home game (you will have to explain to the steward on the gate what the bottles are for).

Last weekend 5 supporters (Keith Dennison, Steve Horsfield, Keith Bonney, Sharon Burnett and Paula) completed a sponsored walk from Guiseley AFC to Horsfall stadium (total of 11 miles), whilst some will have sponsored individuals we realise that not having a home game game may have prevented some from doing so, we will therefore be having a bucket collection at the Blyth game to reward their efforts, monies raised will be split between the Horsfall Trust and the Development Fund, so please give generously.

Thank you for your continued support.
