Pre-Match Programme: Hereford FC

Bowers men are hoping to make this Christmas one to remember this Saturday as they look to reclaim the top spot in the National League North.

After going 8 league games undefeated and holding the top spot for a number of weeks, Bradford returns to the fray this Saturday following a weekend away from the action.

The Avenue now sit second in the league on goal difference but could reclaim the top spot if they can do the double over a resurgent Hereford FC. Although they sit near the foot of the table, Hereford have now gone four games undefeated, including two games in the FA Trophy and will be looking to capitalise on their recent form.

Knowing The Opposition

Martin Horsell

Goal Keeper

Martin is an experienced ‘keeper who signed from Yate Town in December 2015. The former Weymouth shot-stopper has Football League experience with Torquay as well as spells with Salisbury and Dorchester in non-league. He also spent a season playing for Belgian side Royal Racing Football Club Montegnee.

Horsell quickly made the number one shirt his own during his first season at Edgar Street, making 32 appearances for The Bulls during the Midland Football League Premier title-winning campaign.

The second season saw Horsell competing for the jersey with Alex Harris, but the former Football League man still managed to get 18 appearances under his belt as The Bulls picked up the Southern League South and West title.

Last season Horsell made the number one spot his own again, making over 50 appearances for The Bulls as they secured their third league title in as many seasons.

Mike Symons

6ft 3in ‘Target Man’ Symons has enjoyed spells at several non-league clubs including Worcester City, Oxford City, Clevedon Town, Cirencester Town, Forest Green Rovers and most recently Gloucester City in the National League North in what has been a eventful footballing career.

Symons joined the Bulls at the beginning of the record breaking title winning season last campaign, scoring 24 times in 52 games. A truly superb achievement.

Symons spoke to the Press soon after signing with Hereford: “Pete Beadle gave me a call and said I should come down to Hereford to get the smile back on my face. Being 29, almost 30, it’s probably the best decision I have ever made.”

Former Bulls Boss Peter Beadle also spoke after the transfer was confirmed: “Mike comes with good pedigree and has a track record of scoring goals in a higher league than where we are at the moment. His strength and style of play gives us another option in attack, which can only be beneficial to the team.”
