The Club are delighted to welcome Yann Songo’o on a short-term loan deal, from Pitching In Northern Premier League – Premier Division outfit; Hyde United.
Songo’o, 34, has played the majority of his career in the EFL, also featuring for local neighbours Bradford City, and will link up with the Avenue for the next month to strengthen the squad, during an important part of the season.
The Cameroonian, born in Toulon, France, started his journey in Spain, with Real Zaragoza and Sabadell, before moving to USA, and featuring for Sporting Kansas City and Orlando City. After a short spell across the pond, Songo’o moved to Blackburn Rovers, whilst having a loan spell with Scottish side Ross County, before making a permanent move to Plymouth Argyle, following his previous manager Derek Adams to the south of England.
During his time at Home Park, Songo’o made over 120 appearances. In 2019, he made the move to Scunthorpe United, but after spending a season at Glanford Park, the former Cameroon U20 international was snapped up by Derek Adams at Morecambe, which included a memorable promotion to League One. Adams left Morecambe to join Bradford City, and quickly took Songo’o to Valley Parade in 2021. After over 50 appearances, Songo’o joined Walsall on loan before returning to Morecambe for the start of the 2023-24 season.
Making over 100 appearances for the Shrimpers, at the end of the 2025-26 season, Songo’o was released and joined Hyde United, during the pre-season of 2026-27. Now a centre-back, Songo’o has made a handful of appearances for the Tigers, but he’ll move back to West Yorkshire, and Bradford, for the following month.
Speaking on the signing of Songo’o, manager Craig Elliott said:
“I’m really happy to get Yann on loan. We were made aware, a few weeks ago, Yann could be available so with the injuries and suspensions we currently have, we’ve acted quickly to try and make it happen. He will give us vital experience and aggression, and I’m looking forward to working with him.”
After signing on the dotted line for the Avenue, Yann Songo’o is happy to join the Club and is hoping his experience will help the squad during his time at the Horsfall:
“I’m really pleased to be joining Bradford (Park Avenue). I’m looking forward to getting started and helping the team as much as I can. I can’t wait to get going and look forward to meeting the squad, staff and supporters.”
Welcome to the Club, Yann. We hope you have a successful spell with us and enjoy your time at BPA!
Yann is eligible to play against Consett AFC on Saturday 31 October 2026. Make sure you make the trip to possibly see Yann wear our colours.
