The Club is delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Brad Abbott, subject to league and FA approval.
The experienced central midfielder links up with Craig Elliott again, bringing leadership and energy to the middle of the park for BPA during the 2026-27 season.
Abbott joins the Avenue following his release from Cleethorpes Town and has been snapped up by the West Yorkshire outfit as a key member of the Bradford squad. The 30 year old was a vital figure for the Owls who won promotion from the Pitching In Northern Premier League – East Division with the Owls during the 2024-25 campaign and had a short loan with Emley AFC last season.
The midfielder started his football career with Barnsley and had a few loan stints at Barrow AFC, Harrogate Town, Chester and Barrow. From Oakwell, Abbott made the move to Buxton for a season before signing for Boston United. After a successful few years in Lincolnshire, Abbott had two short spells with Grantham Town and Spennymoor Town before rejoining the Pilgrims in 2022. After making 22 appearances, Abbott made the move to Derbyshire and signed for Matlock Town before joining Ashton United, and most recently Cleethorpes Town.
The new BPA signing has played 96 games under Craig Elliott’s leadership, scoring 13 goals in the colours of Boston United, across competitions such as the National League North and the FA Cup.
Speaking on his move to Bradford, Abbott spoke exclusively to the Club’s website:

Reuniting with the midfielder, Craig Elliott says his leadership and experience will help the squad:
“I’m delighted to sign Brad because he is a player I know very well and played nearly 100 games for me at Boston United. I know exactly the kind of quality he will bring to this group. He has recently captained Cleethorpes Town to the title in this league so he fully understands what is needed to be successful at this level. He already knows several of the current squad, so he should fit nicely into the group.”
The Club would like to thank our amazing supporters for their ongoing generosity to make this signing happen, and the support from the Development Fund. Together we’re stronger.
Everyone at the Club would like to wish Brad the best of luck during his at Bradford. We look forward to seeing him in the green and white jersey.
