Bradford (Park Avenue) can today confirm the signing of Chesterfield Defender Ryley D’Sena, on a deal until the end of the season.
The 20-year-old centre-back was born in Sydney, Australia, and has experience at Larne and Bangor in Northern Ireland.
He joined Chesterfields academy last season, and has since been gaining experience at Stocksbridge Park Steels, of the Northern Premier League East Division, since November.
D’Sena also played in Chesterfield’s under-23 Central Midlands Alliance side, before a mutual agreement earlier this season saw him leave the club.
D’Sena is available for selection in today’s game vs Workington! Stay tuned to our socials for the latest team news!
Congratulations to Danny and the team on their win on Saturday. It was the first game in the last four fixtures that I did not attend, so I must take part of the credit.
I just spent the best part of three weeks at the club, working with the staff on budgets and future plans. Trying to balance the budget is not easy in football and it is not made any easier by the difficult economic times that are affecting the UK. The budget for the stadium electricity bill alone for the next year is 46,000 pounds.
The local council has no funds to help so we continue to seek local and national grants and financial support from local businesses. We want the club to help local youngsters get involved with sport as proud players and future fans.
The focus on next year’s budget is to grow our youth section and at the same time maximize the use of the stadium to offset those running costs. Even if we are able to achieve our goals in these areas, it will still leave only a basic budget for the first team. We are grateful for the help that we get from our current supporters but we really need a bigger first team budget if we want to push on, and unfortunately I have reached the limit of what I can provide.
Also it is not a good situation for the club to be dependent on one individual as those that know the history of our club can attest. Therefore the club does need to attract additional investment. Ideally that would be Bradford based individuals who could join our board as part owners or potentially as majority owners.
Meanwhile best of luck to Danny and the team for the remainder of this season.
We can today confirm the signing of Academy player Jodi Tiffany, who has agreed terms on a new deal with the first team.
Tiffany has been with the Club since junior level, and has previous experience in the men’s game with Frickley Athletic while on loan, and also with Steeton, who Jodi agreed dual reg terms with last November.
Academy Manager & Coach Owen Murphy said this on the new deal:
“He’s come all the way through our junior set up, and is a hardworking & strong midfielder who is also versatile and can fill in as a centre back at times.
“Jodi is a great leader within the scholars and shows a lot of maturity in his performances. Very comfortable on the ball and would do anything to win in a BPA shirt”
Jodi is available for selection in today’s game vs Warrington Rylands, stay tuned to our socials for the latest updates!
We can today confirm the signing of Blackpool forward Jake Daniels, on a deal until the end of the season.
Jake joined the Blackpool Academy at the age of seven and has featured regularly for the youth team in the 2021/22 campaign.
Rewarded with a professional contract in February 2022, he scored 30 goals during the season, won the Youth Team’s Player of the Season award and made his first-team debut against Peterborough United.
He also enjoyed a productive loan spell with Bamber Bridge at the end of the 2021/22 season.
Jake is available for selection in today’s match vs Warrington Rylands. Stay tuned to our socials for the latest updates!
Bradford (Park Avenue) AFC can today confirm that both Brady Coldwell & Harry Varley have agreed terms with the first team.
Scholars Manager & Coach Owen Murphy had this to say on the signing;
“I’m delighted for Harry & Brady after signing non contract forms with the first team this afternoon.
“The hard work that both players have put in so far this season has been incredible and now they both have what they’ve deserved but now they must work even harder to stay with the first team.
He also spoke on Striker Harry Varley;
“Harry is a goalscorer, ever since he started with us in the academy, all he’s done is score goals. And scored many types of goals, in particular some stunning free kicks & overhead kicks.
“I think he has some real potential to be that special type of goalscorer, hopefully the deal gives him the confidence to become that”.
He also spoke on Defender Brady Coldwell;
“Brady is a player that can play RB & LB, he’s energetic, offers great quality in the ball and particularly on set pieces.
“He has had to be a little more patient than Harry, but now he has the opportunity, I’m sure he’ll be one to watch in the near future. “
Owen also added this, on the BPA Player pathway, which ANYONE under 19 can sign up for below
https://forms.gle/egeHvzUq3Nbs8AZp9
“We are happy to see that the academy continues to provide players for our first team, and that our pathway to the First Team is very clear to see.
“What we do day to day in the academy is done for one reason and that is to help players progress. Last year we achieved that & this year we’re achieving it again.
“We hope to continue to provide Danny & the first team with more academy players in the near future.”
Both are available for selection in tomorrow’s away trip to Warrington Rylands, stay tuned to our socials or get on the road with us! Google Directions from Bradford Interchange on the map below. Inside Matchday will also be out on Monday! Get subscribed here – https://bit.ly/bpasubscribe
As exclusively announced in Saturday’s matchday programme, Bradford (Park Avenue) AFC are delighted to announce a new partnership with MIND in Bradford.
Mind in Bradford was set up more than 30 years ago by a group of people who were looking for more mental health and wellbeing support. The organisation became affiliated to national Mind but is still an independent charity which relies on its own resources to provide award-winning local services to people in Bradford, Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven.
Hayley Smith, Communications Manager for Mind in Bradford said:
“We know that stigma still exists around mental health. We want to remind people visiting this community stadium that we’re here to help. Guide-Line provides emotional, confidential support every day of the year from 8am until midnight. Whether you prefer to speak to someone over the phone or use the live chat service, please reach out and don’t suffer alone.”
Avenue’s Commercial Director Calum Cullen also had this to say on the new partnership:
‘Bringing in a mental health partner to this football club is great news. MIND are a fantastic organisation and are really helping in an area still seen as a taboo subject. The guide line is a fantastic initiative, and it’s a pleasure to put our backing into the project. I would like to echo Hayleys words – if you are struggling, please reach out, there are people that can help and assist you.’
The new partnership will see MIND advertising around the pitch at the Horsfall Community Stadium.

Bradford (Park Avenue) AFC can today confirm the loan signing of 20-year-old Goalkeeper Kieren Flavell, on a one-month deal with the Club.
Kieren has been with the Reds’ academy since the age of eight, progressing through the age groups before signing as a first-year scholar in July 2020.
The agile goalkeeper has represented England at youth level, and also featured amongst the substitutes for Barnsley’s u23s during the 19/20 Professional Development League campaign.
Flavell has also made 8 league appearances on the bench for Barnsley’s First Team as substitute goalkeeper, 6 of which were this season (23/24).
Two serious knee injuries have hampered the 20-year-old’s playing time over the last few seasons, but Flavell is back fit and ready to show the form that previously caught the attention of England’s youth teams.
We’d like to put on record our thanks to Barnsley FC, for their help in getting this deal over the line.
Flavell is available for selection immediately in Saturday’s away trip to Warrington Rylands. Stay tuned to our socials!
