On Bank Holiday Monday, Bradford (Park Avenue) drew 1-1 against Ossett United, at Ingfield.
The Avenue took a second half lead, courtesy of Marcus Carver before the Sheepicorns equalised, as centre-back Josh Burns found the bottom corner from ten yards.
On a humid day, Bradford started the game in a similar fashion to that of Stalybridge Celtic, dominating possession and trying their best to cut through a stubborn defence.
The only notable opportunity of the opening 45 minutes, for the away side came from a wonderfully timed, first-time flick, from Luke Parkin, that found Carver. The number nine took a touch before side-footing his effort, agonisingly wide from 12 yards.
The game remained tight, lacking in clear goalscoring opportunities. Craig Elliott introduced a number of substitutes, bringing an instant impact in the second half.
Left wing-back Charlie Winfield was causing a lot of problems, and despite failing to connect from a cross, his own delivery found substitute Louie Chorlton at the far post. He cut the ball back to midfielder Connor Shanks and his delivery was nodded across the face of goal from Robbie Fox into the path of Carver, who bundled the ball home from close range.
James Walshaw’s side looked to snatch an equaliser and were rewarded from a set-piece. A corner was half-cleared by Avenue and substitute Fionn Murphy got past Fox, on the right wing, squared the ball into the six yard box, and Burns was alert to fire the ball past Declan Lambton.
The Avenue pushed forward in the final few moments, coming close to scoring, with both Carver and Chorlton denied by excellent goalkeeping and defending.
Unfortunately for Bradford, they couldn’t find a winner, but left Ingfield with a point and move onto Emirates FA Cup action.
