Bradford (Park Avenue) AFC are delighted to announce the signing of experienced midfielder Jak McCourt, who joins the club permanently following his departure from Ashton United.
McCourt, 29, returns to the Horsfall Community Stadium after a loan spell with Avenue last season, during which he made eight appearances and scored once. As part of his new deal, he will also take on a player-coach role, adding experience and leadership both on the pitch and within the coaching setup.
Originally a product of Leicester City’s academy, McCourt has made over 100 appearances in the Football League, featuring for Chesterfield, Northampton Town, Swindon Town, and Barnsley. He was signed by Sol Campbell at then-League Two side Macclesfield Town, before returning to Chesterfield for a second spell in the National League.
Following that, McCourt featured for Warrington Rylands and later Buxton, where he worked under current Avenue manager Craig Elliott.
On his signing, Jak had this to say:
“I’m delighted to sign for this club. I really enjoyed my time here last season — even though I picked up an injury, it gave me a great opportunity to get stuck into the coaching side of things. I’m thankful to Craig for giving me the chance to do that.
I’m really looking forward to the new season starting and hopefully having a successful one both on and off the pitch.”
Please join us in welcoming Jak back to Bradford (Park Avenue)!
