Club Legend steps down and goes on to new adventures

posted in: First Team News, News | 0

It is with great sadness that we announce today that club legend, ex-captain, player coach and interim Manager Luca Havern has left the club. Luca has been with the club over the last 5 seasons and has always given his all for the team, his fellow players and also the head coaches he has played for.

He wore his shirt with pride throwing himself into every block and tackle during his time and he leaves with our best wishes, huge thanks and lots of fond memories. Thanks Luca

‘As I step down as interim manager, I have also decided it’s the right time to step away from my role as player/coach. I wish the new management team and the lads the best of luck, and the club every success in rebuilding.

Thank you to all the fans, players, & management during my 6 years at the club.’

We can today confirm that the Club have mutually agreed to terminate Simon Richman’s contract, following discussions earlier this week.

During those discussions, Simon informed the Club that due to personal reasons, playing football was not a priority for him. We wish Simon all the best, and thank him for his time in the Avenue shirt.

In light of this news, Avenue have acted quickly, and we can confirm the non-contract signing of Reward Mwakona.

The 25-year old Mwakona joins with a wealth of experience, including time at Morecambe, Larne in Northern Ireland, and Airbus in Wales.

Mwakona is available for selection in Saturday’s away trip to Lancaster City. Click here for details and stay tuned to our socials on Saturday for team news!

WADE THE ONE FOR AVENUE!

posted in: First Team News, News | 0

We are delighted to announce the loan signing of Goalkeeper Brad Wade, who has agreed terms with the Club on an initial 28-day loan move.

Goalkeeper coach Danny King said this on the signing;

“I think it’s a great signing for the Club, Brad has lots of experience in non-league football and brings a great amount of experience into the team, while still being a young and developing talent.

“He’s a very attacking keeper, which should help the team in our transitions and going forward.

“And he’s got a big personality too, so hopefully that will come across well in the dressing room and on the pitch.”

Born in Gloucester Wade was raised in Chorley, Lancashire, and was associated with Manchester United from the age of 10.

After a spell with Blackburn Rovers he joined Rochdale, there he became a product of the club’s youth system and signed his first professional contract with the club in 2018.

This was later extended and he was contracted until the summer of 2022.

The young ‘keeper had been with Rochdale from the age of 15 and played in three FA Youth Cup campaigns.

He was a key member of Dale’s youth team which won the EFL Youth Alliance League North West title in 2017-18. As well as extending his experience at Guiseley he also had a loan spell at Barrow.

On leaving Rochdale he played for Hereford and Southport but ruptured the UCL in his elbow. A proposed move to Irish League Premier Division club St Patrick’s also failed to gain international clearance due to his Non Contract status.

After being released by Hereford in March 2023, he joined Guiseley AFC for the fourth time.

Wade is available for selection in today’s game vs Gainsborough Trinity, stay tuned to our socials for the latest updates.
