Inspiring Visit to Sheffield United Community Foundation

Bradford (Park Avenue) Sports Foundation recently enjoyed an inspiring visit to Sheffield United Community Foundation, where staff members Lewis and Mat had the opportunity to see first-hand the incredible community work being delivered across the city.

The day was led by Brad Fox, whose passion for making a difference is truly infectious. From exploring the innovative Post 16 E-sports education programme to experiencing the welcoming Family Hub facilities, the visit highlighted the breadth and quality of Sheffield United’s community engagement.

Lewis and Mat were also introduced to the powerful work being done in dementia engagement and disability inclusion programmes, showcasing how football clubs can extend their reach far beyond the pitch to support health, wellbeing, and social connection.

The visit not only provided valuable insight into Sheffield United’s projects but also opened the door for exciting conversations about potential collaboration in the future.

At Bradford (Park Avenue) Sports Foundation, we are equally committed to using sport as a tool to create safer, healthier, and more connected communities here in Bradford. Support from partners and donors helps us continue to deliver projects that change lives.

💚 A huge thank you to Brad Fox and the Sheffield United team for their warm welcome and for sharing their inspiring work.

Match Preview: Bradford (Park Avenue) vs Lincoln United

posted in: First Team News, News | 0

Bradford (Park Avenue) return to Horsfall Community Stadium on Tuesday 23 September (7:45pm KO) as we host Lincoln United in the Northern Premier League East Division.

Recent Form

Avenue come into this fixture full of confidence after a 2–0 victory over Consett AFC in the FA Trophy on Saturday. Despite the heavy rain, Craig Elliott’s side delivered a professional display.

Connor Shanks opened the scoring in the 51st minute, nodding home after Jameel Ible recycled a Jak McCourt corner back into the danger area. Substitute Tom Corner then secured the result in the 68th minute, finishing calmly from Luke Parkin’s driving run through midfield.

Consett rarely threatened, with only a handful of half-chances across the afternoon, and Avenue’s back line stood firm to ensure a clean sheet and safe passage into the next round of the Trophy.

That result further extended Avenue’s unbeaten run to eight matches, and sets up another important league clash under the lights at Horsfall.

The Opposition

Lincoln United currently sit 20th in the NPL East Division, with 5 points from 1 win, 2 draws and 3 defeats.

After their defeat in the Isuzu FA Trophy on Saturday, the Whites will be eager to respond in league action.

MATCHDAY: Bradford (Park Avenue) vs Consett AFC

posted in: First Team News, News | 0

Bradford (Park Avenue) turn their attention to cup action this Saturday as they host Consett AFC in the FA Trophy Second Qualifying Round at the Horsfall Community Stadium.

Craig Elliott’s side come into the tie unbeaten in the league and buoyed by a dramatic 1–0 victory away at Blyth Spartans last weekend, sealed by Louie Chorlton’s late goal. With Avenue sitting top of the Northern Premier League East, the focus now shifts to knockout football, where progression in the Trophy is the target.

Visitors Consett will arrive in confident mood after climbing to third place in the league with a 4–0 win over Ashington on Tuesday night. A relentless first-half display saw them race into a three-goal lead, with Isaac Walker scoring twice alongside strikes from Brendon Daniels and Matty Todd. Compact, energetic and clinical, they showed why they are among the early-season frontrunners and will provide Avenue with a stern test.

Hospitality is available for just £15 per head, with special guests Chris Millington and Andy Cooper, part of the FA Trophy-winning management team at FC Halifax Town in 2022/23, sharing their experiences in the suite.

Xavier Wiggins visits Horsfall as part of his Walk92 challenge

Bradford (Park Avenue) were proud to welcome Xavier Wiggins to the Horsfall Community Stadium as part of his ambitious Walk92 challenge — visiting all 92 league grounds in just 92 days.

Xavier was greeted by our Community Director, Mat Everett, and Foundation coach, John Caven, who shared with him the breadth of work being delivered through the Bradford (Park Avenue) Community Sports Foundation.

During the visit, Xavier asked a number of questions about our community programmes and values. John highlighted the appeal of 3v3 football and the use of the AirPitch to engage both female participants and those with disabilities. Mat explained the wide range of projects the Foundation is running, from tackling knife crime and supporting mental health to building resilience, improving literacy, and creating pathways for young people across Bradford. He also shared how the Foundation’s set of values drives everything we do — making a difference and positively changing people’s lives.

Xavier was shown around the stadium, taken into the club shop, and gifted a hat, pin badge, and matchday programme as a memento of his visit. Speaking on camera, he said that as the community arm of the club, Bradford (Park Avenue) are “without a doubt punching above our weight.”

Xavier’s Walk92 challenge is raising funds for important causes, and we are proud that Horsfall was one of his stops. You can support his journey here 👉 https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/walk-for-dlag

Xavier Wiggins brings his Walk92 challenge to Horsfall Community Stadium

Bradford (Park Avenue) AFC will be welcoming Xavier Wiggins on Saturday 13th September as part of his incredible Walk92 challenge – visiting all 92 league football grounds in just 92 days. Our ground will be his 93rd club, following his visit to Bradford City earlier that day.

From 2nd August to 1st November 2025, Xavier is walking 2,500 miles across the country. But this journey is about much more than football – it’s about harnessing the power of sport to bring people together, tackle poverty, fight homelessness, and create lasting change in communities.

The Walk92 campaign is raising funds for three incredible causes:

  • Dons Local Action Group (DLAG): Providing food, furniture, digital access, and practical support for those in need.
  • Street Soccer Foundation (SSF): Using football-led personal development to tackle youth homelessness.
  • Sport Local Action’s Sports Bank: Removing financial barriers so young people can access and enjoy sport.

Funds raised will directly support these charities, with DLAG receiving at least 50% of donations. The remaining 50% will be split between SSF and the Sports Bank, with all three organisations also reinvesting to help young people and families facing poverty and homelessness.

Xavier’s message is simple: this isn’t just about football – it’s about what football can do.

To support Xavier’s Walk92, donate, or even join part of his route, visit: 👉 https://walk92.org

We’re looking forward to welcoming Xavier and showing him the spirit of the Green Army and the Bradford community.
