Bradford City – Parking and Stream Update

posted in: First Team News, News | 0

The club would like to inform fans of the following two updates regarding tonights match.

CAR PARK – The car park tonight will only be available to the players of each side. This is due to a mixture of poor weather making a lot of the area unusable, and with both sides bringing in extra players who are all having to travel separately. This has culminated in there not being enough space. Alternative parking can be found on Halifax Road, and Cemetery Road, please DO NOT park in the Cemetery itself.

STREAMING – Unfortunately, Mick Gledhill is not available tonight, but what a replacement we have drafted in! Lewis Sale will ‘man the mic’ tonight in Micks absence. Lewis has previously commentated on the games, and we are looking forward to hearing his voice again!

Silsden 0-0 Bradford (Park Avenune) – MATCH REPORT

posted in: First Team News, News | 0

Silsden AFC and Bradford (Park Avenue) played out an entertaining stalemate at the Cobbydale Stadium. The away side showed plenty of promise in the opening ten minutes. Issac Marriott looked lively, forcing Sammy Lee into a save from 16 yards. Bradford continued to put pressure on their opponents with a quick corner allowing Nicky Clee to cross the ball to Trialist C on the edge of the box. But, the winger was unable to keep his effort down and the ball flew over the bar. The Cobbydalers nearly made the most of a poor corner by the Avenue as Jack Normanton picked up a loose ball and sprinted 80 yards.

The striker had support and pulled the ball back to Joe Mitchell, only for the midfielder to drag his shot wide from 14 yards. After watching Clee leave the pitch with a leg injury, replaced by young debutant Seb Bolton, Bradford had a couple of opportunities to take the lead. Trialist F, who impressed again in the middle of the field, threaded a through-ball to Trialist C, but his first touch was heavy and Lee was alert to dive at his feet and denied the winger. Again, Trialist C had another chance, following great work by Brad Dockerty who crossed the ball into the box, but Trialist C fired over from ten yards. Mark Bower, like he did against Campion AFC, named a different side for the second half. The hosts nearly broke the deadlock after the break. Mo Qasim beat Matty Downing down the right wing and curled an effort past the Trialist goalkeeper, but his strike brushed past the far post from 14 yards.

Some sloppy passing from Avenue allowed Silsden AFC another opportunity as Lewis Gardner went through on goal. The winger struck a powerful left-footed strike past the Avenue number one, but against the post. In the final 15 minutes, there was good link-up play between Rob Guilfoyle and Trialist H and it was the young striker that was denied his first goal in Avenue colours. The 18 year old, playing on the left of a front three, was causing problems and saw two efforts from 20 yards pushed away by the goalkeeper. Both teams continued to attack, looking for a winner and the Avenue Trialist goalkeeper was called into action again.

After making some good saves during the game, in the final few minutes, he used all of his height to tip over an effort over from 18 yards. Then, the Avenue defence were brave, throwing their bodies in front of a Normanton strike from close range to deny the hosts victory.

Silsden AFC: Lee, Moses, Parsons, Hancock, Barnes, Mitchell, Qasim, Riley, Jagger, Normanton, Gardner Subs all used: Ahmed, Russon, Pickles, Airey, McEneaney, Walker

Bradford (Park Avenue) First half: Trialist A, Ross, Windass, Trialist E, Toulson, Trialist F, Clee (Bolton 21), Marriott, Trialist C, Dockerty Johnson

Second half: Trialist A, Downing, Lund, Havern, Guilfoyle, Hibbs, Trialist H, Sanyang, Trialist B, Trialist G, Trialist D

Campion 1-1 Bradford (Park Avenue) Report

posted in: First Team News, News | 0

170 days after their last competitive game, Bradford (Park Avenue) returned to action with a 1-1 draw against Campion AFC in the first pre-season fixture of the 2021-22 season.

The hosts took the lead from the penalty spot, sending the Avenue trialist goalkeeper the wrong way. Mark Bower used two different teams for each half, and in the final 45 minutes, Bradford played some good football, rewarded with an equaliser. After great work from Isaac Marriott to dribble past two players, he set up Jordan Windass who fired a low right-footed shot into the bottom corner from 12 yards.

The Avenue fans returned to watch their team on a sunny evening in Bradford, and saw new signing Rob Guilfoyle for the first time too. The former York City striker looked lively, linking up with Oli Johnson in the final third but, they couldn’t a way past a stubborn Campion AFC defence. The home side caused problems for the National League North outfit and were awarded a penalty following a foul from the Avenue’s trialist left back inside the box. From the penalty spot, Aidan Kirby stepped up and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to give his side the lead. Bower decided to keep his players on the pitch for his half-time team talk and named a different team for the rest of the evening.

The Avenue started with a quick tempo and looked sharp, with Marriott creating plenty of opportunities, playing just behind the trialist striker. It was the young midfielder who got his first assist of the season, spotting the unmarked Windass inside the area. The right-back struck a first-time effort past the goalkeeper from 12 yards. Five minutes, Bradford came close to extending the lead. Despite a lovely turn from Brad Dockerty, the winger’s low shot was well saved and pushed around the post from 14 yards. With the game approaching its end, Campion AFC were denied a late winner. A deep cross from the winger fell to the feet of their substitute striker, who struck a powerful half-volley towards the roof of the net. But, young Avenue goalkeeper Jacob Fawcett produced a stunning acrobatic save to tip the ball over the bar, prompting applause from around Scotchman Road.

Bradford (Park Avenue) First half: Trialist A, Ross, Nowakowski, Trialist B, Hibbs, Clee, Sanyang, Trialist C, Guilfoyle, Johnson, Trialist D

Second half: Trialist (Fawcett 60), Toulson, Trialist E, Lund, Downing, Trialist F, Trialist G, Marriott, Trialist H, Dockerty Goal: Windass (52)

Colin Barker| Campion Friendly

posted in: First Team News, News | 0

Bradford (Park Avenue) can today announce details of Colin Barker’s funeral and the friendly match against Campion.

Colin’s Funeral will take place at 12:45 on Thursday 8th July at Park Wood Crematorium, Elland HX5 9HZ. Given the restrictions in place around Covid-19, 28 people are able to attend. The family have kindly invited one official from the club to attend.

A funeral tea will take place from 14:30 Northcliffe Golf Club, Shipley, BD18 4LJ on the same day. Here, the number is restricted to 80 people only.

Colin’s wish was for no flowers, however there will be a nominated charity for people to make any donations should they wish.

July 8th is also the day of the Campion friendly at Manningham Mills, the club have made the decision to play this friendly, as Colin would have wanted. Kick off for that game is 19:45.

Statement from the chairman.

The club has decided that our game at Campion on July 8 should proceed even though the funeral for Colin Barker will take place earlier on that day.

This decision has been made after consultations with Colin’s family who have agreed that it would be appropriate to play. Colin loved football and would not want us to miss a game on his behalf.

We will be paying our respects before and during the game to this man who gave so much of his time to the club. Furthermore, our game with Bradford City, at the Horsfall on July 13, will provide us with the opportunity to remember fondly our longtime club secretary and we would encourage all of our BPA family to attend.

2021/22 – New Season, New Kit!

We are delighted to show off our playing kit for the 2021/22 season!

The home kit, modelled re by player coach Ryan Toulson, features a mainly white torso, with green and white sleeves and a green trim around the collar, white and green shorts and green socks with a white banding.

The away kit takes a massive leap from last year, and now features a a red and black stripe, with red and black shorts. Amber socks complete the look, almost, keep an eye out for one more surprise with this one! The away kit this year has been modelled by Seb Bolton, one of our new scholars, who will also be wearing the kit this year!

Calum Cullen – We are all delighted with our kits for next season. The home kit remains green and white, with some nice detailing on the sleeves. The shorts and socks compliment it well, all in all a superb kit for the season!

On the away kit, we took a leap from last years amber offer to go for a red and black stripes, which I think looks fantastic, especially paired with the amber socks, meaning we have kept to the traditional Bradford colours as well as the Green and White so often associated with Bradford (Park Avenue), I’m thrilled and cant wait now to see the players in action!

The new kit is available to purchase straightaway, priced at £50.00 from our online shop at https://bpafc.com/product-category/replica-kit/

Once again, a massive thank you to all our sponsors – The James Mae Group, Regal Foods, Highbury Homes and new sleeve sponsors Greens Roofing and Building.
