Tomorrows game with Yorkshire Amateurs will be going ahead behind closed doors as planned, with a 7.30 kick off.

After we took the precautionary action to isolate the first team bubble on Friday, after one of the players showed COVID symptoms, we spent the last few days in consultation with our medical officer and reviewing the National League and Government protocols and guidance.

As a result of these reviews we can release the players from isolation as their last contact with the symptomatic player was over 72 hours before the symptoms showed and at that time he wouldn’t have been contagious according to government advice. 

Based on the above and in agreement with the medical officer tomorrows game will go ahead as planned and all player and staff in the bubble have been released from their isolation with immediate effect.

We hope you will tune in to watch (we are planning a free trial of the video streaming service) the game and listen to Mick’s commentary. 

Please bear with us as we trial the system as there may be some technical challenges which we would like to iron out before the start of the season.

We are excited to let announce that we have arranged a very challenging test for the team in what will be our last pre-season outing before the season commences. We will be playing Spennymoor Town FC away at Brewery Field on Saturday the 26^th of September, kick off 3pm.

This will give manager Mark Bower the hard test he was looking for with Spennymoor having strengthened yet again over the summer on top of what was already a top 6 squad. In an exciting twist it will give two players the opportunity to visit old clubs in our own Jake Hibbs returning the club where he spent the last two seasons and for us to have the pleasure of watching Jamie Spencer strutting his stuff for his new team.

Whilst both clubs wait to see if fans will be allowed to attend it is confirmed that the game will be live streamed in any eventuality, with details to follow.

Bradford (Park Avenue) have had one of our players show COVID 19 related symptoms and as part of our stage 3 back to playing protocols that player and the rest of the management bubble have had to go into isolation pending the results of a COVID 19 test which is taking place today. Unfortunately the results will not come back in time for us to safely fore fill our fixture at Grantham this Saturday, and therefore we are taking the safe and responsible decision to postpone the game.

Our first team bubble are considered primary contacts and that is why they are going into self isolation, the definition of this is that they have been in direct contact with the player. They must self isolate for the next 7 days unless we get a negative result of the test in which case the isolation will be lifted.

As a pre-caution we have sent home our academy players today, although they aren’t required to self isolate at present, as they are in the secondary contact group. 

If your son or daughter was in one of the training sessions run by one or other of the two first team players on Wednesday 9^th of September there is at this time no need to self isolate or be overly concerned as they are also in the secondary contact group.

Once we have the test results we will follow the government guidelines. 

Clearly if the test comes back negative then it will simply be a case of returning to normal training and studies for the academy, juniors and first team.

Assuming there was a positive result then the government protocols for the secondary contact groups would come into place which would mean COVID 19 testing and self isolation until the results have been delivered and full track and trace to identify all people in this group.

This morning the new 3G surface was inspected and has passed with flying colours. We are now ready to play matches at the ground and you can also book to play on the pitch yourself!!

First game on the new surface is confirmed as this Tuesday with a 7.30pm kick off against Yorkshire Amateurs. 

Unfortunately this will be played behind closed doors but we plan to live stream the game with Mick ‘the game caller’ Gledhill doing the commentary.

After internal and external discussions it has been decided than rather than potentially have no fixture this weekend, we have moved this Saturdays up coming friendly with Grantham to the The Mekes.

Although we are confident that there will be no issues with this weeks inspection of the new playing surface, should there be any unforeseen challenges it would’ve put in jeopardy this weeks match.

With the season only a few weeks away we need to ensure that we get all the right preparation done correctly.

Thank you very much for Grantham for being so amenable and switching the game to the Mekes at relatively short notice. The game will kick off at 1pm and tickets are available on line or on the day at the gate.

Its the moment we have been waiting for that means the season is nearly upon us. The National League has released our fixture list for 20/21 season and we start with a home game on Monday the 5^th of October against Gateshead. 

Our Christmas fixtures see us hosting and visiting York City with Curzon Ashton away squeezed in between. 

We end the season with a short trip to local rivals Farsley Celtic which is just a week after our final home game of the season which sees another derby game against Guiseley.

Mark Bower’s men take another step towards the start of the new season tonight playing at local rivals Liversedge. It’s another opportunity for Bower and Boshell to run the rule over several trialists and get some additional game time into the legs of the rest of the squad, as we continue the build up to our October 3^rd season opener in the FA Cup.

Sadly tonight’s pre-season friendly is, understandably, being played behind closed doors as part of the local lock down. However you don’t have to miss out on following the Mighty Green and White army as our very own Mick Gledhill and Lewis Sale will be offering live commentary and updates from the ground.
