Following the 6-1 demolition of Oxenhope Recreation Reserves, the Avenue Reserves made the short trip for a local derby against Pool F.C.
Pool lost all of their opening four games, conceding 32 goals in the process and also failing to find the net.
On a lush looking surface in a lovely setting, it was Avenue who made the early running and during the course of the first 20 minutes, Jayden Cuffe, twice, Harris Khan and Mason Brewis all had efforts at goal.
There was an element of luck when Avenue took the lead, after 22 minutes. McKenzie Murphy, who was back in the starting line up after injury, produced a super cross from the left wing that was met by a Pool defender and deflected into his own net.
Two minutes later, the lead was doubled when a lovely piece of footwork by Max Walker led to Cuffe firing past the goalkeeper. It was one-way traffic as Avenue threatened to run riot. A parried shot saw Cuffe score again, but he was offside and the effort was ruled out.
The home side were forced into trying to trouble their opponents through set-pieces, only for Luke Morris to keep them out.
Unfortunately for McKenzie Murphy, an ankle injury saw him withdrawn at the interval and was replaced by Tidiane Diallo, who almost scored, after the break. He tried to chip the goalkeeper, which seemed the best option, but was unable to find the back of the net.
Following a foul on Walker, Walker smashed in a wonderful free-kick past the Pool goalkeeper, to make it 3-0.
Moments later, the Pool goalkeeper pulled off two great saves to deny both Michael Douglas and Jodi Tiffany.
The one-way traffic continued, after a free kick from Walker was headed home by T. Diallo.
With 20 minutes to go, the hosts scored. After striking the bar from a free-kick, a Pool forward headed the ball into the net for their first goal of the campaign.
Five minutes later, Abdoul Aziz Diallo replaced Jodi Tiffany and Avenue went in search of a fifth goal, which arrived when the ever impressive M.Douglas cleverly switched the ball from one foot to another, before going around the goalkeeper and slotting home.
With time almost up, yet another attack from Avenue saw yet another fantastic save to deny Cuffe. However, when the ball came in from the resulting set-piece, the home goalkeeper allowed a shot from A.A. Diallo to pass through his hands and into the net.
The award for the Reserves is another three points and fourth place in the table as they prepare to face Overthorpe, away from home, next Wednesday evening.
