Match Preview: Bradford (Park Avenue) vs Lincoln United

posted in: First Team News, News | 0

Bradford (Park Avenue) return to Horsfall Community Stadium on Tuesday 23 September (7:45pm KO) as we host Lincoln United in the Northern Premier League East Division.

Recent Form

Avenue come into this fixture full of confidence after a 2–0 victory over Consett AFC in the FA Trophy on Saturday. Despite the heavy rain, Craig Elliott’s side delivered a professional display.

Connor Shanks opened the scoring in the 51st minute, nodding home after Jameel Ible recycled a Jak McCourt corner back into the danger area. Substitute Tom Corner then secured the result in the 68th minute, finishing calmly from Luke Parkin’s driving run through midfield.

Consett rarely threatened, with only a handful of half-chances across the afternoon, and Avenue’s back line stood firm to ensure a clean sheet and safe passage into the next round of the Trophy.

That result further extended Avenue’s unbeaten run to eight matches, and sets up another important league clash under the lights at Horsfall.

The Opposition

Lincoln United currently sit 20th in the NPL East Division, with 5 points from 1 win, 2 draws and 3 defeats.

After their defeat in the Isuzu FA Trophy on Saturday, the Whites will be eager to respond in league action.

MATCHDAY: Bradford (Park Avenue) vs Consett AFC

posted in: First Team News, News | 0

Bradford (Park Avenue) turn their attention to cup action this Saturday as they host Consett AFC in the FA Trophy Second Qualifying Round at the Horsfall Community Stadium.

Craig Elliott’s side come into the tie unbeaten in the league and buoyed by a dramatic 1–0 victory away at Blyth Spartans last weekend, sealed by Louie Chorlton’s late goal. With Avenue sitting top of the Northern Premier League East, the focus now shifts to knockout football, where progression in the Trophy is the target.

Visitors Consett will arrive in confident mood after climbing to third place in the league with a 4–0 win over Ashington on Tuesday night. A relentless first-half display saw them race into a three-goal lead, with Isaac Walker scoring twice alongside strikes from Brendon Daniels and Matty Todd. Compact, energetic and clinical, they showed why they are among the early-season frontrunners and will provide Avenue with a stern test.

Hospitality is available for just £15 per head, with special guests Chris Millington and Andy Cooper, part of the FA Trophy-winning management team at FC Halifax Town in 2022/23, sharing their experiences in the suite.

Bradford (Park Avenue) Sign Striker Tom Corner

posted in: First Team News, News | 0

Bradford (Park Avenue) are pleased to confirm the return of experienced striker Tom Corner to the Horsfall Community Stadium.

Corner came through the ranks at Grimsby Town, making his first-team debut in the 2010/11 season before a surprise move to Spanish side Racing Portuense the following year. His career since has seen him feature across a host of Northern non-league clubs, including spells with Ossett Town, Tadcaster Albion, Buxton, Scarborough Athletic, Ossett United and, notably, Avenue themselves.

Most recently, Corner enjoyed six seasons with North Ferriby, where he proved to be a consistent performer. In the 2023/24 campaign he registered 16 goals in 45 appearances, and last term (2024/25) he made 39 appearances, finding the net 5 times.

Across his career, the 33-year-old forward has racked up nearly 400 appearances and scored over 150 goals, underlining his pedigree and experience at this level.

First Team Manager Craig Elliott was pleased to add further strength to his attacking options:

“Tom is a very experienced striker with a physical presence. We are light in central striker options so he will help us adapt in certain games. He also benefits from playing in this league over the last few years so he knows exactly what it’s about and can hit the ground running.”

Corner is equally looking forward to pulling on the green and white shirt once again:

“It’s great to get it sorted. I’ve been speaking to Craig and Tully for some time now. I’ve taken a step back from football at the start of the season because I’ve got a young family and juggling my time with football and work can be difficult. Our situations have married up to it suits both parties. I’ve always followed the club since I was last here too, so it’s great to be back and especially at a time where you can see they are doing everything they can to get back to the levels they’ve been before. Hopefully I can help with that.”

Everyone at Bradford (Park Avenue) welcomes Tom back to the club and we look forward to seeing him in action this season.

The club would also like to extend our thanks to the Bradford (Park Avenue) Development Fund for their support in making this signing possible.
