There will also be a pre-season programme available at the game, priced at just £1.

In recent years, Avenue have loaned in some of the up and coming talent from Town’s u18 to u23s, including Shane Maroodza and David Adewoju in the 22/23 season, and Isaac Marriott who originally joined on a loan in 2018, before being signed in August 2020 and later sold for an undisclosed fee to Altrincham in December 2021.

Avenue first went head to head with Town back in September 1910, where we hosted a Division 2 game which ended 1-0 to the Terriers.

Our last recorded League or Cup game was on 26th September 1962, where Huddersfield took a 3-1 win in the League Cup.

Town also visited Bradford in our 2019/20 pre-season, which saw the sides play out a 2-2 draw. Goals came from Lewis Rathbone and Ryan Cresswell.

CLUB STATEMENT – PYROTECHNICS

posted in: First Team News, News | 0

Following an incident last night at the match vs Campion. The club would like to issue the following statement;

Bradford (Park Avenue) does not and will not tolerate the use of pyrotechnics at any game, home or away. The use of pyrotechnics is not only dangerous to health, but our pitch is much more likely to be damaged given its synthetic make up.

Anyone caught trying to bring pyro into the Horsfall Community Stadium will have the items removed from them and denied entry, similarly if you are seen using them inside the ground, you will be ejected and immediately banned from all games at the Horsfall Community Stadium, including our Juniors, Scholars and Ladies games. The ban will also extend to any Anchor user and 3rd party games.

Calum Cullen;

It was incredibly disappointing to see the events of last night. Pyro is extremely dangerous and to see an item land on the pitch was terrible. We acted quickly with the Campion officials and have banned the individual from both grounds. We won’t hesitate to take this action again, but hope that we wont have to.

NEW PHYSIO – BRAD SMITH

We are delighted to announce our new physio for the 23/24 season as Brad Smith.

Brad joins the First Team staff following a year working as Academy Medical & Performance Lead. He also stepped up on multiple occasions last season in a First Team role.

On the signing, Brad said this;

“After being at the academy full time for the last year, it’s great to be trusted and given the opportunity to make the step up. “

“I got to work with the first team short term last year and they all made me feel welcome. They’re a good set of lads, so it will be a pleasure to get involved more long term, and I’m looking forward to getting stuck in.”

Club Secretary Calum Cullen also added this;

I’m delighted to get this one over the line, Brad is an outstanding physio which he showed in stepping up last season.“

“We are very lucky to have Brad already in the club and i’m sure he will be a real asset to the First Team this season and beyond.“

Our last 5 meetings with the magpies have all ended in equal points being shared between the teams, 4 of which had no goals scored.

Luke Rawson is the lone Avenue scorer in the last 5, who cancelled out Johnathan Ustabasis first half opener in the 77th minute.

MATCH REPORT – Thackley Pre-Season (H)

Our first outing of the 23/24 season came against Thackley FC in a friendly-match at Horsfall Stadium.

There were quite a few trialists on the team-sheet for Bradford, with a lot of them earning valuable game-time and showing lots of potential for Mark Bower, who looks on towards a promising season for the Avenue.

It didn’t take long for the home side to get the ball rolling, two-minutes on the clock and a corner was swung in which bounced and bobbled around before Mitch Lund fired the ball into the roof of the net.

Bradford continued to pile on the pressure throughout the downpour, which slowed the pace of the game temporarily.

Thackley had a few shots from distance but none of them were close enough to trouble Liam Hall in the Avenue goal.

Luca Havern doubled Park Avenue’s lead after hitting a powerful strike from inside the box beyond Thackley’s goalkeeper.

Thackley struggled to get a foot hold in the game and maintain a rhythm, leaving Avenue’s to exploit the space created.

A strong run from Myles La Bastide saw him brought down on the edge of the box, Will Longbottom scored a delightful free-kick to give Bower’s side a 3-0 lead at half-time.

As expected the team was heavily rotated at half-time with only Liam Hall and Zak Kersey keeping their places.

There were plenty of opportunities for Bradford to add to the scoreline throughout the second half but the chances went begging.

Thackley did manage to get a consolation goal just past the hour-mark, after the cross came in and the header was glanced in from close range.

Full-time: (3-1) BPA v Thackley FC

Attendance: 187

Bradford (Park Avenue) are next in action against Campion FC at Scotchman Road on July 11th with a 7:45pm kick-off.
