We’re delighted to confirm the signing of striker Bailey Thompson, following approval from the Northern Premier League and FA.
The 25-year-old joins the Avenue, having recently featured for Emley AFC, and includes Atherton Collieries, Hyde United, Pontefract Collieries and Bamber Bridge as former clubs.
At 6ft 4′, Thompson arrives at the Horsfall Community Stadium following an impressive spell with the Pewits, where his physical presence, and eye for goal has made him one of the standout attacking talents in the Northern Premier League East, over recent years.
His performances – including a string of influential displays against Avenue, and a growing reputation for relentless work rate – caught the attention of Craig Elliott, and our manager has managed to secure his long-term target:
Speaking on his move, Thompson expressed his excitement at stepping up to the challenge:
“I’m really looking forward to getting started. I already know a few of the lads who play here, which makes the move a lot easier and I’m looking forward to getting involved, meeting everyone and hopefully having a successful season.”
His new manager Craig Elliott is happy to add Thompson to the ranks:
“Bailey is a player I have watched for a number of season. I like his workrate and physical attributes and with the right balance around him, I believe he will score goals for us. He knows this league very well and knows a lot of the players within the squad. His enthusiasm to join us, made it feel like a really good signing.”
Bailey is eligible for tonight’s fixture against Silsden AFC.
