Bradford (Park Avenue) will host league leaders Liversedge FC on Saturday 10 October, in a top of the table clash, knowing that a victory would send the Green Army to the summit of the Northern Premier League East Division.
After ten games, Bradford remain the only unbeaten side in the division, and will enter Saturday’s game having won their previous two league outings.
The Avenue bounced back from their Emirates FA Cup exit in style on Tuesday evening, once again displaying their tremendous resilience when they welcomed Lincoln United in tricky conditions. Despite losing captain Jameel Ible to a head injury early on and falling behind shortly after the break, the Avenue rallied with some excellent, entertaining football, inspired by a brace from Ben Andreucci and a strike from Robbie Fox. The result moved the Green Army up to second place, one point behind this weekend’s visitors, with three games in hand.
Liversedge have been somewhat of a surprise package this season, following their promotion as champions of the Northern Counties East League Premier Division. The Sedge have won eight of their opening 13 games and have topped the table in recent weeks, while the Avenue have been involved elsewhere in their cup commitments.
After consecutive defeats to Consett AFC and North Ferriby, the Sedge returned to winning ways on Saturday when they hosted Stocksbridge Park Steels. Despite throwing away a two-goal lead, Finn Donovan struck in the 93rd minute to snatch all three points for Liversedge at The Meat Drunkery Clayborn Stadium.
The Avenue will be seeking to avenge the heavy defeat suffered the last time Liversedge visited the Horsfall Community Stadium in league action, back in August 2024. Bradford took an early lead through Kelan Swales, only for the Sedge to hit back with four goals, one of which came from current Avenue assistant manager Ryan Toulson. The Green Army will be hoping that Tully is on the winning side again this weekend!
Bradford did, however, win the reverse fixture on New Years Day 2025. Having fallen behind to a Jack Dyche opener, the Avenue rallied with two late goals from Paddy Sykes and Benni Ndlovu to emerge with a 2-1 victory.
Saturday’s clash promises to be an important one for both sides, with more than just local pride at stake. With the two teams separated by just a single point at the top of the Northern Premier League East Division, victory would see Bradford leapfrog the Sedge and move to the summit. With the added spice of the local rivalry, the Green Army will be hoping for another memorable afternoon at the Horsfall Community Stadium and three valuable points in the battle for promotion.

We are dedicating the fixture between Bradford (Park Avenue) and Liversedge FC as part of our growing partnership with Waterwise, the UK’s leading voice on water efficiency, and the launch of the Water‑Wise Sports Clubs project here in Bradford. Supported by The National Lottery Community Fund, the project is working with grassroots Football, Golf and Rugby clubs to help reduce water waste, lower operating costs and build awareness of water scarcity across our communities.
Yorkshire has faced prolonged heatwaves and recent drought conditions, and local clubs are feeling the impact. Grassroots sport is a powerful way to reach families, volunteers and young people who may not usually engage with environmental initiatives. By combining sport with simple, everyday water‑saving actions, the project aims to build lasting habits that benefit both clubs and households.
We’re proud to welcome Wyke Wanderers and BPA Juniors to Horsfall today as part of our steering‑group partnership. Together, we’re showcasing how local clubs can lead the way in building more resilient, sustainable communities — on and off the pitch.
Look out for the activities taking place throughout the day, and join us in championing #waterwinning as we work with Waterwise to inspire the next generation to value and save water.
