Pre-Match Programme: Leamington FC

Bradford  (Park Avenue) head into Tuesday’s clash with Leamington looking to extend their unbeaten run having salvaged a draw at home to Curzon Ashton on Saturday afternoon.

Jake Beesley’s consecutive brace meant that Mark Bower’s side took a point, although they could have had all three, with two Macaulay Langstaff strikes being disallowed for offside, the latter in the final minute.

Our midweek visitors have lost their last three fixtures and are six points ahead of Ashton United, who currently occupy the final relegation place in the National League North.

Bower could have the services of Oli Johnson available to him, who has missed the last few games with injury, while Connor Branson completed 72 minutes on his return from illness.

Despite their league struggles, Leamington have reached the semi-final of the Birmingham Senior Cup, in which they knocked out a young West Bromwich Albion side.

The game provides an opportunity for Avenue to close the gap on their rivals above, with the Yorkshire side having a game in hand on those around them.

The reverse fixture between the two sides was a six-goal thriller. Goals from Johnson, and skipper Shane Killock not enough to take anything from the game.

Pre-Match Programme: Curzon Ashton

posted in: First Team News, News | 0

Fresh from reaffirming their promotion credentials, Bradford  (Park Avenue) return to action this Saturday hoping to pick up where they left off for the visit of Curzon Ashton to the Horsfall Stadium.

Jake Beesley grabbed a brace as Mark Bower’s side stopped the rot against Chester last Saturday afternoon and the manager said he was “really pleased for the boys, who deserved the win”.

Nicky Clee came off as a precaution due to a tight groin, and he could be back for the weekend, as well as Oli Johnson who missed the victory last week with an injury.

Curzon cross the penines fresh from a 6-0 thrashing at the hands of Altrincham last weekend and inevitebly will be looking to put that right on their visit to Yorkshire at the beginning of March.

Our visitors still have an outside chance of reaching the playoffs at the end of the season, as they sit eight points outside of the last play-off spot, a tally bettered by Avenue.

Prior to the previous two games which have both ended in defeat, Curzon went on a seven match unbeaten run which propelled them well up the table, as their start to the year contrasted Bradford’s immensely.

The reverse fixture in November ended in a 1-1 stalemate, with Beesley etching his name on the score sheet for Mark Bower’s side, who will hope to go one better this time.

Pre-Match Programme: Chester FC

posted in: First Team News, News | 0

Fresh from Saturday’s hard-fought draw away at Altrincham last weekend, Mark Bower’s promotion-chasing Bradford (Park Avenue) side face Chester, who are sat in eighth place and only two points behind Avenue in the National League North table.

Danny East’s late strike salvaged a point in Lancashire, and so Bower will expect to have the full compliment available to him. Charlie Andrew, Macauley Langstaff and Romaney Critchlow-Noble are all available after their debuts.

Bradford, without a win since the Boxing Day massacre of Guiseley at Nethermoor will be looking to return to winning ways, whereas Chester ended their own rotten run of form, with a 4-1 thrashing of Boston United.

Bower was encouraged by Saturday’s performance and told James Smith that it was one they could build on: “Yeah definitely, plenty of positives to take from it. We’ll play a Chester team who play a different style to Altrincham, so it’s about adapting your game”.

Match Preview: Altrincham FC

posted in: First Team News, News | 0

With the past two fixtures postponed due to inclement weather, Bowers men will be raring to get their promotion push underway when they face 7th placed Altrincham this weekend.

Having faced Altrincham three times already over the course of this season, Bower’s men will be well versed in what to expect from the opposition.

The addition to the squad of classy new comers, Charlie Andrew and Romoney Crichlow-Noble may prove vital for the game. And with the return of Danny East following a long term injury, Mark Bower and the Squad will be confident going into this weekend.

Striker Macaulay Langstaff joins Bradford Park Avenue

posted in: First Team News, News | 0

Bradford Park Avenue have moved to further strengthen their promotion hopes by adding 22 year old Striker Macaulay Langstaff on a month loan from York City.

Following the addition of exciting prospects Charlie Andrew and Romoney Crichlow-Noble, and the re-signing of Conor Branson to extended terms last week, Mark Bower has further boosted his squad by bringing in the 5ft 9 product of Middlesbrough’s academy who helped Billingham Synthonia to promotion in 2017 notching 31 goals in his 46 appearances .

Langstaff joined York City from Gateshead in June 2018 and arrives at Bradford (Park Avenue) immediately and will be available for Mark Bower as the team travel to Altrincham this Saturday.

Mark Bowers side return to The Horsfall Stadium on February 23rd after a long break between home fixtures for a huge clash against Chester FC. With the most recent home fixture postponed the club is targeting a large crowd for what will be the only home match at Horsfall in February.

Dawson joins Grantham Town on short term loan

posted in: First Team News, News | 0

Bradford Park Avenue Midfielder Chris Dawson has joined Grantham Town for the next month.

The short term loan will see Chris join newly appointed joint managers Paul Rawden and Russell Cousins at the Gingerbreads who are looking to bring fresh quality into their squad ahead of their first match in charge on Tuesday as they host South Shields.

With starting opportunities limited recently and a lack of game time, Mark Bower feels a short spell with Grantham to get minutes under his belt is the ideal solution for Chris and the club :

“Chris has been short of game time recently and we feel a month of first team action elsewhere will prepare him for our final few months of the season on his return.”

Everyone at Bradford Park Avenue wish Chris the best of luck for his spell at Grantham Town.
