Head To Head: Avenue VS Manchester United

posted in: News | 0

Amongst the most famous and well supported clubs in global football, The Red Devils need no introduction.

Manchester United have won more trophies than any other club in English football, but Bradford (Park Avenue) hold something over them: When it comes to league games, Avenue has defeated United more times than they have defeated us (W9 D1 L8). Needless to say, we’re not counting the FA Cup in this, you’ll see why below!

Head To Head: Avenue VS Chelsea

posted in: News | 0

Today’s opponent has won over thirty competitive honours including six European trophies. Not bad for a side nicknamed “The Pensioners”.

It took 50 years for Chelsea to win their first major honour, the League Championship, in 1955. But since then they have become a dominant force in elite football. Needless to say, the stats below are weighted in the blue’s favour.

Bradford (Park Avenue) are pleased to announce the signing of twins, Willy Eckerslyke and Woody Eckerslyke from Earls Park F.C.

Willy and Woody, aged 25, both join after making a phenomenal impact at the Sparks, both combining for 78 goals and 37 assists in just two seasons at the London-based club. Both proud Yorkshiremen, born and bred in the city of Bradford, they are excited about getting the opportunity to don the Red, Amber and Black.

Woody stated,

Pretty mingin’ to be honest with ya. Nowt like Bradford. There’s nowt better than being back home, and am excited to start playing for Bradford (Park Avenue), getting to know the rest of the lads and hopefully continue to enjoy me football.”

Woody followed on with,

“I’ve been telling our lad that this would happen. Like he said, there’s nowt better than returning home. Am excited about the opportunity that we’ve got, to hopefully help lift this club through the ranks. I rang me ma’ earlier to tell her, and she actually sounded happy for once the mardy get.”

When asked whether he thinks his brother will be the better signing, Woody responded with “Will he heck as like”. While Willy responded with, “Would he heck as like” when asked whether Woody would be able to outscore him next season.

Avenue manager, Mark Bower hopes the pair both continue what they have started, “Very pleased to announce these two new signings. Although to be honest with you, I couldn’t tell you which one is which. Called Woody Willy and Willy Woody earlier. But yeah, both scored plenty of goals and got good potential so I’m excited to see what they can bring to the team.”

In consideration of the very serious and unprecedented national public health emergency caused by the coronavirus, the Board has taken the decision to suspend the National League, National League North and National League South competitions indefinitely.

The National League is currently obtaining specialist legal advice, is consulting regularly with The Football Association and other stakeholders, and is committed to involving its member clubs in a pending decision on how best to conclude the 2019/20 season.

Today sees us look back at that famous 8-2 win in the second instalment of our Head To Head feature.

Today’s opponent needs no real introduction to the Horsfall faithful as, everyone knows, “Back in 1946, we showed some tricks, and we beat Man City 8-2 (‘Ave you?)”.

National League Update – 25/03/2020

posted in: News | 0

The National League held a Board discussion yesterday, which was the third such meeting in 11 days. The broad consensus was that our Clubs wish for a decision to be made to close the season as soon as possible.

The National League attended a further meeting last night (by video conference) with The Football Association, and The FA have been asked to assist us with making the decisions to officially postpone all remaining National League fixtures and to end the season as soon as possible for the purposes of player contracts.

The National League is also working with The FA to define all reasonable and practical options for the determination of the 2019/20 season, and to provide guidance to Clubs on dealing with player contracts, player registrations and the application of the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme. We will continue to press for updates and will ensure that any further information is relayed to Clubs as soon as it is received.

Message From Chairman Gareth Roberts

posted in: News | 0

I hope everyone is keeping safe in these difficult times. This crisis will pass as have many others and meanwhile we work together to ease the pain and suffering that this virus is causing.

Firstly we plan to take care of our staff and players and we are working through the initiatives that the government has proposed so that they can be paid. Obviously like a lot of clubs around us we have lost revenue because of the cancelled matches.

Secondly there has been a tremendous effort behind the scenes to put together the new Horsfall Community Stadium project. Despite all the disruption from this virus we are still moving forward with our plans. It is still too soon to say that it is a done deal but we are very optimistic that it will get done. I would like to thank all of those who are working on this project for their enthusiasm and skill in getting it this close to the line. I include in that list our friends at West Bowling ARLFC, The Football Stadia Improvement Fund, the RFL, Sport England, Bradford Airedale Athletics Club and multiple levels of the Bradford Metropolitan District Council.

Finally with improved facilities at our disposal, it will soon be time to turn to how we improve our football club. We are going to develop our youth teams and our Academy teams so that we have more participants and the quality of our play increases. The goal is to produce a quality first team that we can enjoy. This will take a little time but if we can build a solid pyramid of excellence, then our first team is going to provide results.

Stay well, and look after each other.

Up the Avenue.

Gareth Roberts.
