Bradford (Park Avenue) return to league action at the Horsfall Community Stadium on Tuesday evening (8 September) for a 7:45pm kick-off against local rivals Silsden AFC. With local bragging rights up for grabs in this West Yorkshire derby, it promises to be an entertaining encounter under the lights.
The fixture was originally scheduled to be the Avenue’s curtain-raiser, but Silsden’s participation in the Emirates FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round forced the game to be postponed.
The Avenue head into Tuesday’s clash in fine form, having just knocked higher-level Curzon Ashton out of the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday. A brace from Kareem Hassan-Smith, including a dramatic stoppage-time winner, saw Bradford leave Tameside with a 2-1 victory and a place in the Second Round Qualifying.
The Green Army have also made a promising start to their league campaign, remaining unbeaten in their opening four games and collecting ten points from a possible 12.
Tuesday’s visitors have also proven difficult to beat in the early weeks of the season, losing just once in the Northern Premier League East Division. However, they have not tasted victory in the league since their opening-day win over Blyth Spartans in mid-August.
Silsden will be hoping to turn draws into victories, having shared the spoils in three of their opening five matches. Despite taking the lead twice in their most recent outing away to Matlock Town, the Cobbydalers were unable to hold on for all three points.
Bradford (Park Avenue) will no doubt be looking to avenge last season’s results against Silsden. The points were shared in an entertaining 2-2 draw at Cobbydale during the 2025/26 campaign, before Silsden claimed all three points with a 1-0 victory at the Horsfall in the reverse fixture.
The Avenue will be looking forward to a welcome run of home fixtures, having played six of their opening seven matches in all competitions away from home. Tuesday’s return to the Horsfall Community Stadium will provide Bradford with an opportunity to build on their impressive start to the season in front of their home supporters, before a number of further fixtures on home soil give the Green Army a chance to establish some momentum at their own ground.
