Jake Hibbs signs on again

posted in: First Team News, News | 0

We are thrilled to announce that Jake Hibbs has agreed a deal to see him playing at the Horsfall again next season! Buoyed by the results last season, Jake was more than happy to put pen to paper on the deal that sees him become our latest signing of the summer!

Jake Hibbs – I’m really excited to be signed up for another year. Last season was obviously another unfortunate year due to Covid, but I feel we were just starting to gel together as a team, so hopefully we can start were we left off last year and have a good season

Mark Bower – We’re delighted Hibbsy has extended his stay with the club. He’s a player who thrives on playing week in week out and we know the more he plays the better he will become.

He’s another player with an outstanding work ethic and versatility which is vital to our squad.

We are delighted to announce that Isaac ‘Mazza’ Marriott has put pen to paper on a deal that sees him in Green & White for the 2021/22 season.

Isaac Marriott-

I am delighted to be extending my stay at Bradford (Park Avenue), last season was one of the best seasons I’ve had and a lot of that was down to the Bower and Bosh and the rest of the group. Hopefully we can push on again next year and give the fans something to cheer about, I can’t wait to get going!

Mark Bower – It is really pleasing that Isaac has decided to stay with us and it shows he sees us as the right option in order to progress his game and look to ultimately play at a higher level.

Brad Dockerty – Im delighted to sign on with Bradford (Park Avenue) for another year. I really enjoyed it last season and thought we competed well with some of the best teams in the league and that will only get better with our mix of experience and youth. Hopefully we will get the buzz of the fans being back in the stadium as soon as possible too which will help us build on what we did last year.

Mark Bower – It was such a shame that the season ended early for all of us, but I felt more so for Brad as he was looking fit and starting to show a real consistency in his performances.

We have seen the potential Brad has and we look forward to working with him again next season to help him to continue his progression and allow him to showcase his qualities.

GOAT signs up for another season at the Horsfall

posted in: First Team News, News | 0

We are delighted to announce that arguably the greatest player to ever don an Avenue kit has re-signed for another season. After the early end to last season there was some doubt that the exceptionally talented veteran would be interested in going through the pain of another pre-season and all the self discipline it takes to play the highest level of semi professional football in the UK. After gaining the permission of Mrs. Clee, Nicky himself agreed to join Club Captain Luca Havern as our second signing for next year

Nicky Clee –

I’m delighted to commit to Bradford and the management team for another season. We were starting to play some of our best stuff before the curtailment this year and hopefully we can keep the majority of that group together and kick on next year. There are some good young players at this club and I’m looking forward to passing on my experience to help make them better players. Hopefully the governments roadmap will go to plan and we’ll be able to welcome the fans back to the Horsfall when the season starts again in August. It just wasn’t the same without them last year.’

Mark Bower –

We’re really pleased that Nicky has decided to stay with us for another season. He is a great character to have in the dressing room and uses his experience to be a positive influence on our younger players. On the pitch he shows no sign of slowing down and we look forward to him ‘pulling the strings’ for us again next season and showing the qualities which make him so popular with our supporters’

Chairman Brian Barwick to Stand Down at End of the Season

posted in: First Team News, News | 0

The National League chairman Brian Barwick has notified the Board he will be stepping down from his position at the end of the 2020/21 season.

Barwick, 66, has enjoyed a long and distinguished career, spanning over 40 years, with senior roles in both major sports broadcasting organisations and high-profile sports governing bodies.

In December, the former Football Association chief executive was awarded an OBE in the New Year Honours List for services to sport and broadcasting.

The Chairman stated, “After careful consideration I formally told the National League Board in February that I intended to step down at the end of the 2020/21 season.

“I think it is the right time to relinquish the role – and give somebody else the great privilege of leading the organisation.

“Since 2015, I believe the competition has continued to grow in stature and profile, sent strong clubs up into the EFL and built up a formidable and loyal set of commercial and broadcast partnerships.

“Our 66 clubs remain the life-blood of our competition and a vital part of their local communities – and that’s what makes our League so special.

“I also acknowledge just how tough it has been for many of our clubs over the past twelve months facing the unprecedented challenges brought on by the Covid pandemic.

“In closing, I would like to thank my National League Board colleagues, the League’s executive, our commercial partners, the wider football family and, most importantly, our member clubs for their warm welcomes and support over the past six years.

“I will continue to commit myself to the well-being of the National League until the end of the season.

“And, of course, I wish my successor as Chair and everybody connected with the National League my very best wishes for a brilliant future.”

National League vice-chairman Jack Pearce said: “Brian’s appointment signified a change of direction by The National League in 2015 for the benefit of the competition.

“Whilst it would be easy to reflect on what has been a very challenging year for football, not only The National League, the progression of the competition over this six-year period has been greater than we could have expected.

“The Chairman has been influential in our long-term commercial partnerships with Vanarama and BT Sport, with the three-year extensions on enhanced terms this season providing security for member clubs. We have also seen an increased level of professionalism, both on and off the pitch at clubs, since Brian’s appointment.

“Brian’s remarkable work ethic and trust in others have made him an invaluable colleague and a person I consider to be a wonderful friend.”

General Manager Mark Ives also added: “Brian has worked tirelessly for the benefit of the League and his vast experience across the game and the media has been a tremendous benefit to the League and its member clubs.

“I have had the privilege now of working with Brian on two separate occasions during my career, and his knowledge and determination has been exceptional.  We are all grateful for his support over the years.”

Staggering decision from the National League to fine Bradford (Park Avenue)

posted in: First Team News, News | 0

In what can only be described as an incredulous and insensitive decision, the National League today have given the club notice that it has been found guilty of not playing three games and that a fine for each breach is to be applied of £2000.
The club had offered a clear written explanation on each occasion and submitted a defence based on the financial circumstances surrounding the matches for the disciplinary hearing.
We will be appealing this travesty of a decision with the FA and are taking legal advice from our lawyers about further action relating to the lies told to the club by the National League at the start of the season relating to grant funding.
